Amazon secured a 1,920 MW power purchase agreement with Talen Energy through 2042 from the Susquehanna nuclear plant — the largest single nuclear PPA by a technology company. The deal runs concurrently with Amazon's acquisition of Talen's adjacent data centre campus for $650 million. The Susquehanna plant in Pennsylvania provides 24/7 carbon-free baseload power for Amazon's AI data centre operations. This deal was the template for the wave of hyperscaler nuclear PPAs that followed.
