Unit 4 entered commercial operation on 5 September 2024. All four Barakah units are now commercially operational, generating a combined 40 TWh of electricity annually, providing up to 25 percent of the UAEs electricity. Unit 4 was connected to the grid on 23 March 2024. On 17 May 2026, a drone attack struck an electrical generator outside the plants internal security perimeter during the Israel-Iran conflict. The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation confirmed the incident did not affect safety and no radioactive material was released.
