Google announced on May 7, 2025 it will fund development of three nuclear power sites to meet its data centre clean energy needs. This follows Google's October 2024 landmark SMR deal with Kairos Power. Google is pursuing a multi-technology nuclear strategy covering both new SMR capacity and existing plant restarts. The three sites are in early feasibility stage with technology selection expected in 2026.
