Notes

The Palisades nuclear power plant received its first domestically fabricated fuel shipment in October 2025 — stored in secure storage in the spent fuel pool building ahead of loading into the reactor core. The plant also received and installed a second fully refurbished primary coolant pump motor. Separately, the plant achieved primary system passivation in 2025 — a key technical step in the restart process. Palisades' 800 MWe pressurised water reactor entered commercial operation in 1971, operated for five decades, and was shut down by Entergy in May 2022 before being acquired by Holtec for decommissioning and subsequently pivoted to restart. Holtec is the first company in US history to be approved by the NRC to restart a plant after full decommissioning initiation.
