Jimmy Energy is the most advanced French nuclear startup — at Step 4 of the ASNR regulatory review process, it has requested a "creation authorisation decree" to construct an SMR intended to supply industrial heat to a Cristal Union Group plant at Bazancourt in the Marne department. This would be France's first industrial heat SMR deployment. Jimmy's approach focuses on supplying process heat to energy-intensive industries — sugar refineries, chemical plants, and similar facilities that need large amounts of reliable, carbon-free heat. Regulatory update (ASNR, August 2026): Jimmy filed its creation authorisation decree request on May 4, 2024; the regulator asked for additional information on February 13, 2025, and on July 23, 2026 Jimmy submitted an updated request including changes to the reactor design, which the ASNR was asked to examine on July 24, 2026. The project remains at Step 4 (assessment of the application).
