Naarea has been developing a hexagonal fast reactor using molten salt technology; its preparatory review (Step 2) with the French regulator was completed in 2024 (ASN annual report 2024), and it no longer appears among the SMR projects on the ASNR's August 2026 list. Naarea and Thorizon have teamed up on molten salt reactor development. The company targets industrial heat and remote power applications. Naarea is part of France's vibrant private nuclear startup ecosystem energised by the France 2030 €1 billion SMR investment programme.
