Kazakhstan is set to make key decisions in 2025 regarding the construction of up to three nuclear plants, with site selection and international technology partnerships underway. Kazakhstan holds 40% of global uranium reserves and sees nuclear power as a natural strategic extension of its position as the world's largest uranium producer. Both Russian VVER and Western SMR technologies are under consideration.
