Proposed campus on more than 9,000 acres of BLM land near Price, Carbon County, Utah (about 199 miles southeast of Salt Lake City), plus roughly 640-650 acres of state trust land; the Utah Trust Lands Administration approved a 50-year lease on September 17, 2026 and the Salt Lake Tribune first reported the plans on September 24. According to company documents reviewed by NPR, the campus would include data centers, about 456 reactors, a nuclear fuel production facility and waste storage facilities, producing around 9.6 GW of electricity plus process heat. Reconciliation note: NPR cites 25 MWe units, which at 456 units would total about 11.4 GW, so the unit size and the 9.6 GW total do not reconcile; DCD's headline says 9.4 GW against 9.6 GW in its own text, and 9.6 GW is used here. The BLM has confirmed it is reviewing the application for completeness, with a NEPA process to follow; non-nuclear construction could begin as early as the end of 2026, the first reactors could come online in 2028, and full build-out is targeted for 2032. Valar says no construction begins before permits and approvals. The site is about 30 miles from Valar's Ward 250 test reactor in Emery County.
