Unit 3 of the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant in Liaoning province successfully completed the Hot Functional Test (HFT) on June 2, 2026. HFT validates operational reliability of systems and equipment under thermal conditions before fuel loading. The Xudapu project is a China-Russia nuclear energy cooperation project designed to construct six million-kW-class pressurized water reactor units with total installed capacity of over 7,600 MW and total investment of 140 billion yuan. Upon completion, the project will deliver nearly 54 billion kWh of clean electricity annually.
