Phase I of the Bailong nuclear plant in Fangchenggang, Guangxi: two CAP1000 pressurised water reactors of 1.25 GW each (China's version of the Westinghouse AP1000), owned by SPIC through Guangxi Nuclear Power. The State Council approved the phase in August 2024. First concrete for unit 1's nuclear island was poured on December 22, 2025, and for unit 2's conventional island in August 2026 (August 7 to 9); first concrete for unit 2's nuclear island was poured at 18:27 on September 27, 2026 (about 6,637 cubic metres over 58 hours), bringing both units into construction. Each unit is expected to take about 56 months and state media put the cost of the first two units at about $5.6 billion; the plant is planned to grow to six units (about 8.62 GW). Commissioning dates have not been stated. Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute is joint general contractor.
