Blue Capsule is a French nuclear startup developing a fast sodium reactor, and its project preparatory review (Step 2) with the ASNR is in progress in 2026. The company also developed a sodium test rig to replicate fast reactor conditions. Blue Capsule and Hexana are the two projects the ASNR lists (August 2026) as having a preparatory review in progress; Blue Capsule was earlier in the initial screening stage alongside Hexana, Out and Stellaria. The France 2030 programme's €1 billion SMR funding has energised France's private nuclear startup ecosystem to an unprecedented degree.
