Swedish lead-cooled SMR developer Blykalla announced in March 2026 it will proceed with the next planning phase for a power plant at Norrsundet in Gävle, east-central Sweden, after site assessments confirmed suitable conditions. Blykalla is a KTH Royal Institute of Technology spin-off developing the SEALER (Swedish Advanced Lead Reactor) targeting industrial and municipal heat and power applications. RISE signed an MOU with Blykalla to accelerate development for these applications.
