GE Vernova Hitachi and Finnish-Swedish utility Fortum entered into an early works agreement on July 1, 2025 to advance potential deployment of the BWRX-300 in Finland and Sweden. Fortum is one of the largest Nordic utilities with nuclear plants in both Finland (Loviisa) and Sweden. The early works agreement covers site assessment, regulatory strategy, and pre-FEED activities. Finland is already home to the world's first EPR (Olkiluoto 3) and has strong nuclear expertise, making it an ideal early market for BWRX-300 deployment in Scandinavia.
