Notes

Lithuania signed an MOU with GE Vernova Hitachi in February 2025 to assess the technical and economic feasibility of implementing the BWRX-300 as part of Lithuania's 2050 energy strategy. Lithuania previously operated the Ignalina RBMK nuclear plant until EU accession forced its closure in 2009 — the country has deep nuclear expertise and significant pro-nuclear sentiment. A BWRX-300 deployment would restore Lithuania's nuclear generating capacity and contribute to Baltic energy independence from Russian fossil fuels.
