GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy's BWRX-300 completed Step 2 of the UK Generic Design Assessment on December 11, 2025 — with ONR, the Environment Agency, and Natural Resources Wales finding no fundamental safety, security, safeguard or environmental shortfalls with the BWRX-300 design. GVH country leader Andy Champ: "This is the fastest that any technology provider has completed steps 1 and 2, truly demonstrating the value of our progress in construction in Canada." Step 1 was completed December 2024 making the two-step completion under 12 months — the fastest GDA Step 1+2 in history.
