BWXT Nuclear Energy Inc. received $21,423,305 from DOE on May 14, 2026 to procure equipment for its existing facility in Mount Vernon, Indiana for final assembly of reactor pressure vessels and manufacture of other large nuclear reactor components for Gen III+ SMR deployments. BWXT manufactures all US Navy nuclear reactor components and is uniquely positioned as a domestic nuclear heavy manufacturer. The Mount Vernon facility investment will expand BWXT's commercial nuclear manufacturing capability to serve the BWRX-300 and SMR-300 programmes, and provides dedicated pressure vessel final assembly capability unavailable elsewhere in the US.
