Meta partnered with Constellation Energy in June 2025 to purchase the entire energy output of the Clinton Clean Energy Center in Illinois over 20 years. The Clinton plant is a 1,070 MWe boiling water reactor in Clinton, DeWitt County, Illinois that had been considered for retirement due to adverse economics following expiration of Illinois tax credits. The Meta PPA saves the plant from closure and provides long-term revenue certainty. The Clinton plant feeds the MISO grid covering central and southern Illinois. Meta has significant data centre operations in Illinois and uses the power for its AI infrastructure.
