Westinghouse and Community Nuclear Power signed an agreement to deploy the UK's first privately-financed SMR fleet — four AP300 SMRs in the North Teesside region of Northeast England. North Teesside is experiencing significant industrial and economic development driving increasing demand for carbon-free, reliable electricity. The four-unit 1,200 MWe fleet represents the first commercial AP300 fleet commitment in the UK and the first fully privately-financed SMR project in Britain outside the GBE-N government programme. Westinghouse targets AP300 NRC design certification by 2027 with construction beginning 2030 and first power 2033.
