Constellation announced in January 2025 it was teaming with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to seek DOE Gen III+ SMR funding for an early site permit at Nine Mile Point in upstate New York. The application supports New York's goal of abundant, clean, reliable electricity. Nine Mile Point already operates two large nuclear reactors making it an ideal co-location site for SMR deployment with existing grid connections and regulatory familiarity.
