Container Technologies Industries received $547,900 from DOE on May 14, 2026 to expand its nuclear quality assurance certifications for its Helenwood, Tennessee facility to enable it to produce steel qualified for Gen III+ SMR deployments. Nuclear-grade steel certification (ASME nuclear quality assurance programmes) is a prerequisite for steel used in SMR construction. Expanding the pool of certified domestic steel suppliers reduces supply chain risk and cost for US SMR projects. Helenwood is in Scott County, Tennessee — close to TVA's Clinch River BWRX-300 project site.
