Copenhagen Atomics is developing a containerised molten salt reactor moderated with unpressurised heavy water that consumes nuclear waste while breeding new fuel from thorium. The reactor has an output of 100 MWt. In February 2026, the company completed two years of continuous operation of a molten salt pump and test loop.
