Copenhagen Atomics is a Danish nuclear-energy company developing factory-built, containerized thorium molten-salt reactors based on its Onion Core technology. Its design uses liquid fuel salt, a thorium blanket salt, unpressurized heavy-water moderation, and a thermal-neutron spectrum; the planned commercial unit is specified at 100 MWth, and the company targets first nuclear testing at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland in 2028. On 2026-02-19, Copenhagen Atomics signed a nonbinding letter of intent with Rare Earths Norway to explore future access to thorium from the Fensfeltet deposit, creating a potential European fuel-supply pathway.
