Notes

ČEZ signed an early works contract with Rolls-Royce SMR for the proposed construction of a 470 MWe SMR at Temelin, announced approximately April 28-29, 2026 (World Nuclear News). In October 2024 Rolls-Royce SMR was selected by ČEZ to deploy up to 3 GW of electricity in the Czech Republic, and ČEZ took a 20% stake in Rolls-Royce SMR. In April 2025, ČEZ selected Amentum to deliver environmental impact assessment reports for Rolls-Royce SMRs at Temelin and the Tušimice coal plant (due for retirement in 2030). ČEZ plans the first SMR at Temelin by 2032, with a target of ten units by 2050. ČEZ and Rolls-Royce SMR also plan to cooperate on SMR projects in the Czech Republic, UK, and internationally under their strategic partnership. First Deputy PM Karel Havlíček: "Small modular reactors represent a technological opportunity with a European impact and a chance for Czech companies."
