Notes

El Dabaa will be Egypts first nuclear power plant, comprising four VVER-1200 units. Construction work at all four units is in full swing with more than 30000 people involved. Egypt aims for 9 percent of electricity from nuclear by 2030. Project cost is 28.75 billion dollars, with 85 percent financed by Russia via a 25 billion dollar state loan at 3 percent interest over 22 years. Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power contracted for 82 ancillary buildings. Rosatom is aiming for 100-year service life. First concrete poured July 2022. The reactor pressure vessel was delivered in October 2025 and installed in November 2025 in a ceremony attended by the Egyptian and Russian presidents. On 26 May 2026, the largest-ever shipment for a single nuclear plant arrived, including a pressuriser for Unit 1.
