Egypt's first nuclear power plant comprising four VVER-1200 units located about 320 km north-west of Cairo. First concrete for Unit 1 was poured in July 2022. The reactor pressure vessel for Unit 1 was installed in November 2025. Over 30,000 people are working at the construction site. Egypt's aim is for 9% of electricity to be generated by nuclear by 2030.
