Fermi Energia plans to deploy two BWRX-300 SMRs in Estonia with total capacity of 600 MWe. Estonia's Parliament passed the Nuclear Energy and Safety Act on 18 June 2026 by 63 votes to 10, establishing a phased licensing system and national nuclear regulator. The law clears the way for Fermi Energia's national designated spatial plan and pre-assessment application, planned for mid-2029. Construction permit application expected in 2029, construction to begin in 2031, with first SMR operational by second half of 2035. Samsung C&T signed a teaming agreement for potential EPC partnership.
