Global Nuclear Fuel Americas (GNF-A) received $3,000,000 from DOE on May 14, 2026 to establish a second production line for boiling water reactor fuel rod fabrication at its Wilmington, North Carolina facility, acquire capital equipment to automate pellet inspection, and implement automated storage and handling for pellets. GNF-A is a joint venture of GE Vernova, Hitachi, and Toshiba and is the primary fuel supplier for GE-designed boiling water reactors. The investment directly supports the BWRX-300 fuel supply chain for deployments at Darlington (Canada), Clinch River (TVA), and the US-Japan Tennessee/Alabama programme.
