Alongside the 25-year Duane Arnold restart PPA signed October 28, 2025, Google and NextEra Energy signed a separate agreement to explore the development of new nuclear generation nationwide. NextEra is the world's largest electric utility and operates nuclear plants in Florida (St. Lucie and Turkey Point) among others. The new nuclear exploration agreement provides NextEra with a potential hyperscaler offtake partner for future SMR or large reactor deployments in its service territories. Details on technology selection and specific sites have not yet been disclosed.
