Holtec International signed an MOU with EDF UK to build the first SMR-300 reactors at a UK site. Holtec's 2025 annual review also noted UK GDA Step 2 regulatory progress expected to culminate successfully in early 2026, with design adaptations for the UK aligning the SMR-300 to 50 Hz AC frequency to facilitate global adoption. The EDF UK MOU positions Holtec's SMR-300 as a potential second UK SMR technology option alongside Rolls-Royce SMR at Wylfa.
