Slovakia's state-owned nuclear company JAVYS signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement with France's EDF in August 2025 for further cooperation in nuclear energy development including large power reactors and SMRs. The signing took place during an official visit to Paris by Slovakia's Minister of Economy Peter Dovhun. EDF brings its EPR2 and Nuward SMR technologies to the discussion. Slovakia already has MOUs with both Westinghouse (AP300/AP1000) and Synthos Green Energy (BWRX-300) — making it one of the most multi-technology nuclear procurement markets in Central Europe.
