Westinghouse signed MOUs with Slovak state-owned nuclear company JAVYS in July 2023 on potential deployment of both AP1000 reactors and AP300 SMRs. JAVYS (Nuclear and Decommissioning Company) has rich experience with Westinghouse through collaboration on decommissioning of Jaslovské Bohunice and fuel diversification. Slovakia has four operating VVER-440 reactors at Bohunice and Mochovce with two more Mochovce units coming online, making it one of Europe's most nuclear-intensive countries per capita. In August 2025 JAVYS also signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement with France's EDF covering large reactors and SMRs.
