Jordan is focusing on small modular reactors after abandoning large reactor plans in 2018. JAEC has signed SMR cooperation agreements with CNNC, Rolls-Royce, NuScale, X-energy, Rosatom, and KHNP. An IAEA expert mission in October 2023 concluded that JAEC reports provide a good basis for an SMR feasibility study for electricity generation and seawater desalination.
