Jordan participated in the IAEA SMR School in Bangkok in July 2025. Jordan has been pursuing nuclear power for over a decade and has a 123 Agreement with the US. The country has significant uranium reserves and sees nuclear as strategic for water desalination as well as electricity. Jordan has engaged with US, South Korean, and Russian developers. An SMR would be particularly well-suited given Jordan's grid size constraints.
