Google signed a Master Plant Development Agreement with Kairos Power in October 2024 for deployment of six to seven Kairos FHR reactors providing up to 500 MW by 2035 — the world's first corporate agreement for multiple deployments of a single advanced reactor design in the US. Plants will be sited in relevant service territories to supply clean electricity to Google data centres. The first deployment targets 2030. Google's Senior Director of Energy and Climate called it the "world's first corporate agreement to purchase nuclear energy from multiple SMRs." Kairos will develop, construct, operate, and sell power to Google under PPAs.
