KHNP and Singapore's Energy Market Authority (EMA) signed an MOU on civil nuclear energy cooperation focused on SMRs on March 1, 2026. Singapore has been studying nuclear energy including SMRs as a potential electricity solution for its land-constrained city-state — it has the world's highest electricity intensity per square kilometre. The MOU focuses on knowledge exchange, regulatory development, and evaluating the feasibility of SMR deployment in or near Singapore. KHNP's Barakah UAE success and Czech export contract give it credibility as a potential Singapore nuclear partner.
