Notes

Singapore's Energy Market Authority is conducting a detailed nuclear feasibility study examining whether SMRs can provide viable electricity for the land-constrained city-state. Singapore imports approximately 95% of its electricity from Malaysia via the Peninsula Gas Utilisation pipeline and has no domestic fossil fuel resources. The KHNP MOU in March 2026 is one of several nuclear cooperation agreements Singapore has signed. The EMA is evaluating regulatory frameworks, safety requirements, and potential floating or barge-mounted SMR solutions given Singapore's physical constraints.
