NANO Nuclear Energy acquired the KRONOS MMR (formerly USNC's Micro Modular Reactor) in January 2025 for USD85 million. The KRONOS MMR is a 45 MWt, 15 MWe HTGR using TRISO fuel. NANO Nuclear signed an agreement with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to build the first research KRONOS MMR on campus.
