NuScale Power partnered with Oak Ridge National Laboratory through a DOE GAIN (Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear) Voucher — part of the first round of fiscal year 2026 GAIN awards — to use AI to explore options for reducing fuel costs across multiple NuScale reactors simultaneously. Methods for optimising nuclear fuel management for a single reactor are well established; this research extends AI-powered optimisation to multi-reactor fleet scenarios, targeting cost reductions for NuScale's planned ENTRA1/TVA six-plant, 72-module deployment and other large-scale VOYGR programmes.
