The NRC approved NuScale Power's uprated 250 MWt / 77 MWe power module design on May 29, 2025 — completing the technical review ahead of schedule and under budget. The US460 is based on NuScale's 12-module, 600-MW US600 design and is NuScale's second NRC approval following the original 50 MWe design (certified January 2023). NuScale submitted the application in January 2023 and the NRC accepted it for review in July 2023. The uprated design enables six-module plants delivering 462 MWe — the same configuration planned for the RoPower Romania project. ENTRA1 Energy holds global exclusive rights to commercialise the design and plans deployment by 2030. CEO John Hopkins stated NuScale is in talks with five "tier-one hyperscalers" under NDA.
