Fluor is providing engineering, design, licensing, and project management services for the expansion of Romania's Cernavoda nuclear power plant alongside the NuScale SMR project. Cernavoda Units 3 and 4 are CANDU-6 reactors that have been in development for decades. Romania's energy minister described the nuclear expansion programme as positioning Romania "at the forefront of the new European nuclear industry." The Cernavoda expansion and Doicești SMR together make Romania the most ambitious nuclear expansion programme in Central and Eastern Europe.
