Thailand participated in the IAEA SMR School in Bangkok as the host country in July 2025, with participants from ten nations. Thailand's state utility EGAT is evaluating SMR technology as the country seeks to reduce reliance on natural gas and coal. Thailand has no existing nuclear power but has an advanced regulatory framework relative to ASEAN peers.
