Notes

Saudi Arabia participated in the IAEA SMR School in Bangkok in July 2025 and is actively evaluating SMR technology. Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) is coordinating nuclear development. The country aims to diversify its electricity generation from oil. Saudi Arabia has engaged with US, South Korean, Chinese, and French SMR developers. Any deployment would require a 123 Agreement with the US given Western technology preferences.
