The UK government awarded GBP196 million to Urenco in May 2024 to build the UK's first HALEU enrichment facility at Urenco's Capenhurst site. The facility will have capacity to produce up to 10 tonnes of HALEU per year by 2031, supporting around 400 jobs. This will be the first commercial HALEU facility in Europe.
