Vattenfall's project company Videberg Kraft AB is planning either five BWRX-300 reactors from GE Vernova Hitachi or three reactors from Rolls-Royce SMR at the Ringhals site on Sweden's Värö Peninsula — delivering approximately 1,500 MWe total. Videberg Kraft submitted the first application under Sweden's act on state aid for investments in new nuclear power to the government on December 23, 2025. Industrial consortium Industrikraft i Sverige agreed to a 20% stake and SEK 400 million ($42.2 million) investment in November 2025. The Swedish government proposed acquiring a 60% ownership stake in April 2026 with an initial capital injection of SEK 1.8 billion and up to SEK 34.3 billion during construction. A technology selection decision between BWRX-300 and Rolls-Royce SMR is planned for 2026.
