Amazon and X-energy are advancing the Cascade Advanced Energy Facility near the Columbia Generating Station in Richland, Washington — a planned 5 GW build-out starting with four 80 MWe Xe-100 units for 320 MW. Amazon committed $500 million to the project in October 2024. Construction is expected to start by end of this decade with operations in the 2030s. X-energy submitted its NRC construction permit application for its Texas Dow site in March 2025 with a final safety evaluation expected in November 2026.
