TRISO-X LLC, X-energy's fuel fabrication subsidiary, received the first ever NRC Category II licence enabling commercial TRISO fuel manufacture at co-located TX-1 and TX-2 facility sites in Oak Ridge, Tennessee in February 2026. This is a landmark milestone — the first commercial TRISO-X fuel manufacturing licence in US history. X-energy also signed a 10-year graphite supply agreement with SGL Carbon in January 2026 for Xe-100 reactor core components, including an initial three-year award valued at over $100 million for the first commercial deployment. X-energy's Xe-100 high-temperature gas-cooled reactor uses TRISO (Tristructural Isotropic) pebble fuel — described as the most robust nuclear fuel on earth, which cannot melt down.
