X-energy is developing TX-2 — a second, larger TRISO-X fuel fabrication facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee supported by the DOE Fuel Line Pilot Programme. TX-2 is expected to produce enough TRISO-X fuel for 144 Xe-100 reactors annually — sufficient to fuel the company's entire current customer pipeline of approximately 11 GW. The first facility TX-1 received its NRC Part 70 licence in February 2026. TX-2 will be among the world's largest advanced nuclear fuel production facilities.
