Amazon signed a deal with Energy Northwest, a utility in Washington state, to fund the initial phase of a planned X-energy SMR project. Amazon backed 5 gigawatts of new X-energy SMR projects in October 2024. This Washington state project is separate from the Dow Texas deployment and represents Amazon's direct utility partnership model for SMR procurement.
