X-energy and Talen Energy signed a Letter of Intent on March 19, 2026 to assess deploying three or more four-unit Xe-100 plants in Pennsylvania and across the PJM Interconnection market — potentially 960 MW to 1,440 MW+ of clean baseload capacity. The companies will conduct feasibility studies, site evaluations, and a project execution framework, exploring transitions from fossil-fired generation to nuclear power using existing infrastructure, transmission connectivity, and workforce. Talen operates the Susquehanna nuclear plant and previously sold its adjacent data centre campus to Amazon for $650 million.
