Candu Energy (AtkinsRéalis) is positioning to support life extension of South Korea's three Wolseong CANDU-6 units (2, 3, 4) through its CANDU reactor refurbishment expertise. Gary Rose, executive vice president of nuclear at Candu Energy, stated: "The real role that we want to play in Korea is to ensure the continuing safe operations of those plants and to extend their lives to get another 30 years of clean energy." There is also discussion about restarting Wolseong Unit 1 "in this time of clean energy need."
